The Rise Of The Online Internet Television
It is an undisputed fact that the Internet television is on the rise the recent years. There are certain reasons that led to this and I would bet that this is only the beginning and the world of online TV broadcasting will continue to change and will produce the same effect for conventional medias as the blogs and online media did.
Free for the people and niche
The online TV is free in the most of the cases and it offers a medium for the development of niche programs. Because of the low cost of online TV production and its transmitting, the broadcasters are able to produce content to cater special interests that would otherwise be financially unreasonable should the program have been broadcasted in a conventional way. The online TV is all about serving people’s special interests.
The Dream comes true
Online TV broadcasting gives opportunity to people who have dream of having their own TV channel but never had the money to start it. One example is Andy Steward who started his own TV channel on the Internet. His channel sail.tv is about his passion – the sailing. The problem for Mr. Steward who is a computer consultant based in London was that he was supposed to make an enormous investment if he wanted to broadcast the conventional way. This was too risky because nobody knew how many people would be interested in his program. The low initial cost of the Internet television was the reason for Mr. Steward to start his program.
Another example of someone who harnessed the power of the free online TV is Gary Vaynerchuk. He is making a revolution in the world of the wine with his Wine Library TV podcasts. Wine Library TV is about wine reviews and wine appreciation advice in an informal and very passionate style. He turned the Internet television into a major marketing tool to build his multimillion dollar empire.
The online entertainment TV is even having its own celebrities such as Taryn Southern who is developing successful Internet TV projects.
I also visited Youtube and watched a video that I found on the first page of the website, and then followed a link to the website of the person who made this video. Turns out that Charlie McDonnell the person who created the video called “How to be famous” (a satiric video about the celebrity magazines) managed to get about 800 comments under the post announcing the video on his blog in just 10 days. I even found another blog post with about 2500 comments. Now, how great is that, and who can even say that he/she has such a commented content? I figured that things here are on totally different scale. Charlie is a vlogger (video blogger) and I figure, vloggers have a very important role in the future of the Internet television.
The internet television is not only important for the people who produce content, it is also important for the users because it delivers exactly what they want and it gives them a great choice.
